Italian shutters... the reason they are there is because, in stone, stucco, or brick construction, you have natural daytime air conditioning if you don't let too much sunlight in during mid-day. You never see air-conditioners, because they don't need them.The low-humidity Mediterranean climate, with cool nights, is perfect for humans with stone buildings.

The gift to draw is a part of my soul; I remember my father, Donald Phillip Allen, always sitting at his easel every night after work. He would paint long into the early mornings; I remember looking forward to joining him Saturdays and Sundays at San Diego’s Balboa Park, showing his paintings to hundreds of folks walking in among the trees. I have always been able to depict subjects as they appear; I consider myself a ‘realist’ an artist who believes in the ideology of ‘objective reality’.
